Welcome to another issue of the Mississippi 811 Magazine. I hope you find some articles of interest and benefit. It is our goal to keep you informed about the progress we are making in Mississippi as it relates to pipeline safety, damage prevention and enforcement. If you have suggestions how we can improve our efforts, we welcome your input.
As you know, electronic positive response went into effect January 1, 2021. I am pleased to tell you that as of the writing of this article, 93% of our members are in compliance with the law mandating it. Thanks to all of you who are working with our Mississippi 811 team to make this transition so easy. Others of you who have not yet come on board, rest assured, we are working as quickly as possible to make it happen.
You also know that April has been designated as safe-digging month across the nation. Here in Mississippi, we are very pleased that Governor Reeves proclaimed April as SAFE
DIGGING month right here at home. You’ll find his proclamation in this issue. We thank the Governor for reminding us all the importance of safe-digging and public safety.
It seems hard to believe, but planning has already begun for the 2021 Mississippi Damage Prevention Summit. The Summit will be back in Biloxi, so mark your calendar for November 3 -
5, 2021. This event has become in a very real way an annual conference that focuses on damage prevention through better business practices and enforcement. Each year we have first time attendees that tell us if they’d only known what the Summit was about, they’d have started coming earlier. Join us this year for what I think will be the most informative Summit yet. We’ll have a lot of things to discuss including enforcement solutions, positive response updates and learn about the new products and services designed to keep you ahead of the game. I hope to see you there.
